Why you should pre plan meals.

Sometimes when you pre plan it makes the next day so much easier. Prepping for my competition doesn’t give me too much wiggle room for calories so I have to be smart on my food choices.

This weekend was a busy weekend! With sports getting back, my daughters both enrolled in hockey and dad as coach makes for busy times. I knew we would be driving around and I may not be able to come home to eat.

I don’t know about the rest of you but I get HANGRY!!!! If I don’t eat, watch out. My students would always ask why I ate in class, I told them you would rather that I eat then see the effects of me not eating.

Especially right now, if my eating gets thrown off by 15-30 minutes it throws me and my mood for a loop. When I am eating low calories, I really can’t spread my meals too far apart. I am like a clock. I eat at 8:30, 11:30, 3, 5:30 and 8:30. So, if I know I won’t be home around one of those time frames I ensure to pack something with me.

Seeing my meals were all planned I prepped what I needed, put it in my lunch bag and off we went. Other people may have been looking at me while I ate my salad at the rink but you know what I didn’t care. I was able to savour and enjoy it rather than wait until I got home and devoured something and not feel well.

So yes planning works and helps. If you are looking to shed a few pounds preplan, trust me in the long run it pays off. Creating a new healthy habit of packing something before you leave rather than hitting up a drive thru will save you.
