Protein variation

My brother and sister in law are both vegetarian so while visiting them this past summer I learned a lot about other protein options.

As you know I need to consume A LOT of protein right now. A question I get asked often is “do you only eat chicken?” Ummmm, no! I enjoy fish and shrimp as well. I eat turkey breast and ground turkey. It is hard to fit beef in as it is higher in calorie count while you are in calorie restriction.

However, my pallet was open to new things this past summer. I really enjoyed the veggie ground round (I didn’t even notice a difference to ground beef). I enjoyed tempe instead of bacon in a BLT sandwich. I have tried beyond meat burgers and chipotle black bean burgers, which are very delicious as well. 

So if you are stuck in the same protein rut or if you want to try some new and delicious ways to get some protein try these alternatives.
