Comparing our bodies

I was watching the women’s 100m final during the Olympics this past summer with my brother and sister in law. I commented on the Jamaican's arms saying “man I wish my arms looked like that!” My SIL then replied “You know your arms do look like that right?!?!?” I said “Really?? I don’t think of them that way”.

I then commented on their abs mesmerized with the way they looked. My brother made the comment “You know they are at the peak of their training and you would probably look like that as well if you were at the Olympics”.

It got me thinking…. It is so very true! When we see athletes or celebrities we always see them at their peak. We see them playing the game, at the Olympics, on the magazine cover etc. They have been training for these moments.

We never really see athletes in their off season, when celebrities are in their off season they get put on magazine covers with blast about them “gaining weight”. However they are probably just enjoying a few more foods, enjoying time with their family and friends, heck they are probably enjoying life.

So my friends never ever compare yourself to the cover of a magazine, an athlete in their prime or even that person at the gym who you never know might be training for a specific photoshoot.
